PAWLEYS ISLAND, SC, October 02, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- With a varietal business background in the corporate world, teaching criminally inclined and psychologically challenges youth, business owner, (and now as author), Karen [Katrina] Wood has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
An inherent love for horses inspired Ms. Wood to enter the industry many years after childhood tuition and lessons from a former Olympic competitor and a professional life in the business arena. Following the birth of her third child in the U.K., she created an equine healthcare and breeding facility in upstate New York, as an owner, breeder, successful competitor, and certified equine sports therapist. "Graywood Stables" – the first of its kind and heralded in the industry magazines as "the Jewel in the Crown" – flourished in nationwide service to the horses she loves for over 28 years.
Beyond her past responsibilities, Ms. Wood has maintained strong philanthropic endeavors in her community and country. Among others, she champions animal organizations, children's welfare (having supported over 18 children globally over the years), has supported Making Headway since its inception (a children's brain tumor foundation founded by close friends), was President for 10 years of the American Morgan Horse Institute (the 501(c) (3) wing of the American Morgan Horse Association and named Woman of the Year), and maintains involvement as a member of the Tiffany Circle of the American Red Cross.
A respected voice in her community, Ms. Wood currently writes novels whilst residing on the seacoasts of Maine and South Carolina. In light of her exceptional undertakings and the several accolades and honors throughout her impressive career, Ms. Wood was selected for inclusion in the 2018 edition of Marquis Magazine.
