Dr. Johnson began his career as a Scientific Officer in the Royal Naval Scientific Service in England where he saw service on the Royal Research Ship Discovery 1. He then worked at the Imperial College of Science and Technology, London University where he was awarded a PhD in metal physics in 1960 and became a lecturer in metallurgy the same year. Subsequently he worked as Director of Research at the Materials Research Corporation in Orangeburg, New York, and as a professor and administrator at Brooklyn Polytechnic, Washington State University, and the University of Louisville. He has served extensively as a consultant to industry and law firms for more than 50 years and operated his own consulting company, Metals Research In., from 1986 to 2014.
Apart from his London University PhD, Dr. Johnson has a B.Sc. in physics, with special honors, from the University of Reading in England, and a MA degree in physics from the University of Toronto in Canada. He has published more than 130 scientific papers, most of which are in peer reviewed international journals or international conference proceedings. Dr. Johnson is an active member of his community. For more than 30 years he has served as a volunteer with the St. John Center for Homeless Men in Louisville for which activity he has been designated a Distinguished Citizen of Louisville" by the Mayor of Louisville. He has also served for 14 years as organist and choir director of an Episcopal/Lutheran church in Louisville. Professionally, he has been recognized by election to the rank of Fellow in the Institute of Physics (London), ASM International, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He is listed in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the Midwest and Who's Who in the World. In the near future, Dr. Johnson plans to continue excelling in his philanthropic efforts at St. John Center for Homeless Men.
