Dr. Sahnggi Park began his career as a student at Kyungpook National University, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in physics. He then traveled to the United States to study at the University of Arizona, earning a Doctor of Philosophy in semiconductor optics in 1999. Dr. Park is a member of the American Physical Society, the Optical Society of America and the Korean Physical Society.
A respected voice in the industry, Dr. Park is renowned for his work in advancing optics technology. He was responsible for inventing a critical technology to implement optical communication technology in CMOS IC computer chips, and his research work on optic of semiconductor microcavities is highly regarded.
