SURPRISE, AZ, October 15, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Clare Burns with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Burns celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
At just 9 years old, Ms. Burns knew she was destined to one day become a school teacher, defying all odds surrounding her due to her disability. She began her professional career as a first grade teacher at the St. James School in West Warwick, RI, in 1982, and worked there for the next eight years. She then transferred to the Blessed Sacrament School in Providence, RI, for nine years before becoming a reading specialist at Globe Park Elementary School in Woonsocket, RI. Following these positions, she again taught at the first grade level at Leo A. Savoie Elementary School in Woonsocket, RI, from 2002 until her retirement in 2004.
Ms. Burns earned an Associate of Arts from the Community College of Rhode Island in 1974. She then attended Rhode Island College, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1976 and a master's degree in 1999, becoming a reading specialist and consultant in the state of Rhode Island and being named Wal-Mart's Teacher of the Year that same year. After her retirement, she relocated to Arizona and went on to head the after-school homework program at LifeHouse Community Church for two years, as well as serving as their elder and president. Maintaining her interest in education and helping others, she also volunteered with the Dysart Unified School District in Surprise, AZ, for one year. She is listed in the 26th edition of Who's Who in the World, as well as several editions of Who's Who in America and Who's Who of American Women.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Clare Burns has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
