Working tirelessly as a ballroom dancer with a male partner for years, Nancy Ann Gorski also participated in shows with many stars during the 1950s, such as Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis.
CHARENDON HILLS, IL, October 17, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Nancy Ann Gorski with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Gorski celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
For 44 years, Ms. Gorski taught in the Chicago Public School System before retiring from the Joseph E. Gary Elementary School in 1998. Teaching physical education at the elementary level, she was initially hired as an educator at the Beidler and Skinner Elementary Schools in 1954. She later excelled as an educator for Wadsworth Elementary School between 1955 and 1956, Beale Elementary School between 1956 and 1957 and Parker Elementary School between 1955 to 1957.
During her career, Ms. Gorski administered practical exams in dance for physical education certification within the Chicago Public Schools from 1969 to 1974 and from 1981 to 1987. She also developed the physical education curriculum for the schools during the late 1970s and was a presenter in her field. Ms. Gorski is a longtime member of the American Alliance for Health and Physical Education, the Illinois Association for Health and Physical Education, the Henry Suder Club and Recreation and Dance, from which she accepted a Quarter Century Award in 1992.
Outside of education, Ms. Gorski found success as a professional dancer. Working tirelessly as a ballroom dancer with a male partner for years, she also participated in shows with many stars during the 1950s, such as Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. First sent to dancing lessons by her mother at the age of just three, Ms. Gorski later made the decision to study physical education because she thought it would be a great way to remain on her feet and still teach the art of dance to her students.
Ms. Gorski graduated with a Bachelor of Science in elementary and physical education from Chicago State University in 1954. She is additionally certified as a teacher in the state of Illinois. Although she has been retired for many years, she continues to remain active by mastering her ballet, tap and jazz skills. Notably, Ms. Gorski has been showcased in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education and Who's Who of American Women since 1995.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Nancy Ann Gorski has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
