Retired since 2001, Dr. Lange taught mathematics for 27 years, beginning at St. Andrew's School in Middletown, DE, in 1974. He has since contributed multiple research papers to various other professional publications on the study of spectral decomposition and various other topics. Notably, Dr. Lange has conducted research on the analytic properties in spectral decomposition of operators and was the first person to prove that adjoint of a decomposable operation was, in itself, decomposable.
A reviewer for mathematics reviews in Ann Arbor, MI, every year between 1987 and 2001, Dr. Lange also spent one year as a research professor at Central Michigan University in 1987. He is a longstanding member of the American Mathematical Society, the Mathematical Association of America and the Virginia Academy of Science.

He was a grantee recipient through the National Science Foundation between 1991 and 1993 and was included in the first edition of Who's Who in Science and Engineering. Marrying his wife Lorrayne Yates Lange in December 1983, Dr. Lange remained married until her passing in 2017. He has three step-children with whom he remains close.
