Dr. Catacosinos began his career as assistant editor for 20th Century Fox in New York City from 1951 to 1952. After this opportunity, he worked as Assistant Director of business management and administration at the Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, New York from 1956 to 1969. From 1969 to 1977, he held the position of president at Applied Digital Data Systems Inc. in Hauppauge, New York. Dr. Catacosinos continued his career with Applied Digital Data Systems Inc. from 1977 to 1982 as the chair and chief executive officer.
Dr. Catacosinos was additionally active as the chair, chief executive officer and on the board of directors for LILCO, now known as National Grid, in Hicksville, New York from 1984 to 1998. He was appointed to the role of managing partner with Laurel Hill Capital Partners LLC in 1998 and the chair, president and chief executive officer for TNP Enterprises Inc. in 2000. Dr. Catacosinos is currently senior partner with the Laurel Hill Advisory Group LLC.
Prior to embarking on his professional path, Dr. Catacosinos received his Bachelor of Science from New York University in New York City in 1951. Following this accomplishment, he earned his Master of Business Administration from New York University in 1952. Dr. Catacosinos obtained his Doctor of Philosophy, cum laude, from New York University in 1962.
In addition to his career, Dr. Catacosinos completed service as an officer of the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956. He contributed to New York University as an adjunct assistant professor from 1962 to 1964. He later excelled as the chairman of the board of Corometrics Medical System from 1969 to 1974. He sat on the advisory committee, the policy committee on strategic planning and the board of directors for the Edison Electric Institute between 1990 and 1995. Dr. Catacosinos has also held a position on the board of directors for U.S. Life, the Atlantic Bank of New York, and the First National Bank of Long Island, and as the vice chair of the Nutraceutical Clinical Laboratories International Inc.
Dr. Catacosinos was active on the board of directors for the Long Island Association Inc., the New York Alliance for Inclusion and Innovation and the Brookhaven Town Industrial Commission from 1956 to 1977. He was a member of the Suffolk County chapter of the American Cancer Society from 1969 to 1977 and the Stony Brook Foundation from 1978 to 1985. Additionally, he was trustee of the New York Polytech School of Engineering in Brooklyn from 1981 to 1985 and the national chair of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children from 1981 to 1983.
Furthermore, Dr. Catacosinos has been recognized as a Distinguished Alumni by New York University. He has previously been selected for inclusion in the first edition of Who's Who in America: Student Version, the eighth edition of Who's Who in Science and Engineering and multiple editions of Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the East and Who's Who in the South and Southwest.
