From 2005 to 2017, Dr. Fairobent was a consulting capacity and performance engineer for Elsevier in Miamisburg, OH. In the nine years leading up to this role, he was a systems administrator at Catholic Healthcare Partners in Cincinnati, OH. Before these appointments, he was a senior systems programmer at Quantum Chemical from 1990 to 1996, Cincinnati Milacron from 1985 to 1990 and at Rockwell International from 1982 to 1985.
The first professional role Dr. Fairobent held was as an engineer at Ford Motor Company in Allen Park, MI from 1978 until 1980, at which point he took a two-year job as a physics lecturer at Ohio State University in Columbus, OH. Additionally, he was a member of the Midwestern VM Regional Users Group from 1991 to 2005.
Growing up, Dr. Fairobent was fascinated by science, particularly because of the television program called "Mr. Wizard." While he was finishing high school, he became interested in physics, specifically. He pursued the subject at the University of Michigan and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1972 with High Honors in Physics with Distinction. He went on to earn a Master of Science in physics in 1975 and ultimately obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in theoretical condensed matter physics in 1978.
Now, as an established professional in the field, Dr. Fairobent is a lifetime member of the American Physical Society. He is also the founding member of the Open Atmospheric Society, where he has been a lifetime member since 2016. In addition to contributing numerous articles to Physical Review D and other publications, he also developed capacity planning and system automation software. He considers his first publication in a journal to be the highlight of his career.
One of Dr. Fairobent's many accomplishments includes being a finalist in the Michigan Mathematics Prize Competition in 1968. Furthermore, he was the valedictorian of Stevenson High School in Livonia, MI in 1968, the regents scholar of University of Michigan from 1968 to 1972 and the Rackham graduate fellow of the University of Michigan in 1972. He has previously been featured in Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering and Who's Who in the World.
