Formerly employed as the Vice President of design, engineering and research for Lightolier Inc. in Secaucus, New Jersey, between 1985 and 1987, he was also a Director of Engineering and Research for AMF Inc. in Stamford, Connecticut, a Technical Staff Member for Bell Telephone Laboratories, now Nokia Bell Labs, in Whippany, New Jersey, and an engineer and Task Leader for Battelle Memorial Institute in Columbus, Ohio.
During his near 55-year-long career in engineering, Dr. Ketchman has served as the Director of Mechanical and Safety Engineering for Inter-City Testing & Consulting Corp. in Mineola, New York, and was an Adjunct Professor for the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York City. He has authored multiple articles in peer-reviewed journals and is a patent holder in his field. Most honorably, Dr. Ketchman was responsible for completing the final conceptual design of a tool that was used by the Apollo 11 astronauts on the moon.
Dr. Ketchman is a longstanding member of multiple professional organizations in his field, including the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Society for Testing and Materials International, the American Society of Safety Engineers and the National Association of Professional Accident Reconstruction Specialists. He has been cited in the 23rd Edition of Who's Who in the East for his contributions and is a founding Fellow of the Institution of Diagnostic Engineers in the UK.
Obtaining a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering at the City College of New York in 1964, Dr. Ketchman then completed a Master of Science in mechanical engineering at the Ohio State University in Columbus in 1967 and a Doctor of Engineering Science at Columbia University in New York City in 1972. A licensed professional engineer, he is also accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Traffic Accident Reconstruction.
