She began her career as an English teacher at Long Beach High School. The former promotion coordinator of public relations for the Mandl School, the College of Allied Health, from 1973 to 1974, she subsequently served as the executive director of Nassau Easter Seals for two years, the director of public information at Long Beach Memorial Hospital for one year, and an account representative for First Investors for an additional year. Employed by Josephthal & Company, Inc., for three years as a sales assistant, she would advance to becoming an accountant executive in 1981. Soon thereafter, Ms. Beckman was the vice president of financial planning with Arthur Gould, Inc., before obtaining her current positions.

Alongside her primary endeavors, Ms. Beckman has been a creator and presenter of seminars and workshops regarding financial investing, having excelled as an advisor of investment clubs since 1996. Delving briefly into academia throughout the 1980s, she held the position of adjunct instructor at Adelphi University, Molloy College and Farmingdale State College.

Equally passionate about her community, Ms. Beckman has served on the boards of directors of the Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation, the Long Island Small Business Assistance Corporation, the Art League of LI, Merrick Kiwanis, the National Association of Women Business Owners on Long Island, The Women's Economic Developers of Long Island, the Long Island Center of Business and Professional Women (President 1984-1986), Society for Financial Service professionals on Long Island (President 2008-2010), Advisory Council of American Portfolios Financial Services, Inc. (2006-2008) and Treasurer (2015-2017) and Vice President (2017-2019) of Literacy Nassau.

Ms. Beckman has been certified as a financial planner and registered as an investment advisor and stockbroker. Holding a Bachelor of Arts from Hofstra University and a Master of Arts from Adelphi University, she subsequently became a certified financial planner through her alma mater, Adelphi University, several years later. A resourceful figure in her industry, she also previously worked as a financial columnist for The Women's Record and briefly wrote for a quarterly newspaper, The Reporter, in the late 1980s. As a successful woman in a field predominated occupied by men, Ms. Beckman is humbled by her persistence and dedication to her profession in order to become a prominent symbol in the financial realm.

As a testament to her success, Ms. Beckman has accrued several accolades in recognition of her exceptional undertakings. The recipient of the Long Island Press Club Award, she also accepted the Mentor Award and the Financial Services Award from the Small Business Administration in 1989 and 1991, respectively. In addition to these honors, she was presented with the Woman of Distinction in Business Award, the Long Island Association Financial Service Advocate Award, the Pathfinder Business Award, and the Business Advisor of the Year of the New York District Award. The Girl Scouts of Nassau County further recognized her among the 90 Women in 90 Years Making a Difference, and the Long Island Business News honored her as one of 50 Leading Business Women in 2002 and 2003 and added her to their hall of Fame honorees in 2005. Likewise, Ms. Beckman has garnered numerous honorary citations from the Town of Hempstead, NY.
