Sue Ann Gardner Shreve Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    BAY SHORE, NY, October 26, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Sue Ann Gardner Shreve with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Shreve celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. A retired health products company administrator, Ms. Shreve concluded her career with Patchogue Surgical and Athletic Supplies in Sayville, NY, in 1981 after 10 years as the organization's manager. Originally employed as a company representative for New York Telephone Company, now known as Verizon, in Bay Shore, NY, she later worked as an engineer for Republic Aviation in Farmingdale, NY, and was a substitute teacher for several years for the East Islip Union Free School District in New York before delving into the health products industry.

Becoming involved in genealogy years later, Ms. Shreve was an only child with few relatives who was very curious about her past. Joining Ancestory.com, she has since written 20 books on the subject. Her most recent contributions include "The Becker Family Genealogy: Germany to St. Clair County, Illinois, and Madison County, Illinois, in 1846" in 2005, "The Ridgeway Family Genealogy" in 2003, and "The Mendenhall Family Genealogy" in 2003. She has also been a longtime compiler and editor of the Gardner/Gardiner Researchers newsletter since 1993, has served as an invited guest writer for the National Genealogical Society newsletter numerous times between 1996 and 2004, and has been a conductor of genealogy workshops since 1996 and a lecturer in genealogy since 1997.

Ms. Shreve has been known for her involvement in the community for many years as well. She is an active member of the Sagtikos Manor Historical Society, the Bay Shore Beautification Society, the Bay Shore Historical Society and the Chamber of Commerce of Greater Bay Shore. She is also the past treasurer of the Bradish Lane Homeowners Association and a lifetime member and former president of the New York State Parent Teachers Association. Ms. Shreve is the past regent and recording secretary for the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War. She is also a member and past president of the Bay Shore Garden Club, and a member of the Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America and The National Society Colonial Dames XVII Century.

Named one of the Outstanding Young Women of America in 1967, Ms. Shreve was honored years later with an Official Proclamation from the Village of Frankfort, IL, in 1996 for her accomplishments in developing Kohlhagen Park in Frankfurt, IL in honor of her maternal Kohlhagen grandparents and great grandparents. Named Woman of the Year two times by the Bay Shore Garden Club in 1997 and 2003, she was later honored with a Medal of Appreciation by the Sons of the American Revolution in 2005 and received a Conservation Award from the Daughters of the American Revolution in 2009. Ms. Shreve has also been cited in more than 25 editions of Who's Who for her contributions, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, and Who's Who of American Women. She has held a Bachelor of Business Administration from Hofstra University since 1955.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, to parents Homer Frank and Grace Emily (Kohlhagen) Gardner, Ms. Shreve's ninth great-grandfather, George Gardiner, immigrated to the United States and settled in Rhode Island in 1639. Long married to her husband Eugene Sheldon Shreve II, Ms. Shreve has two daughters, Pamela Ann Shreve and Cynthia Shreve Richard, and two wonderful grandchildren, Nicholas Ian Richard and Rachael Grace Richard.
