Robinette, FASLA, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. After amassing nearly five decades worth of experience, Mr. Robinette is currently retired, having most recently served as a professor at the University of Texas at Arlington, a position he had held since 1988. This overlapped with his tenure as president of Agora Communications in Plano, Texas, which lasted from 1983 to 2008.
Mr. Robinette began his career as assistant chief landscape architect for Andrews and Clarke Inc. in New York City. He then worked as an assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin System in Madison before his posting as associate executive director of the American Society of Landscape Architects in Washington, D.C., from 1968 to 1976. During this time, he was also named executive director of the Landscape Architecture Foundation in Washington, D.C. In 1977, he accepted the same position with the Center for Landscape Architectural Education and Research in Reston, Virginia. Four years later, Mr. Robinette was named director of marketing at Myrick, Newman, Dahlberg and Partners.
Mr. Robinette served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. He earned both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in landscape architecture from Michigan State University in East Lansing. Additionally, he is licensed as a landscape architect in the state of Texas.
A fellow of both the American Society of Landscape Architects and the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture, Mr. Robinette was also the recipient of the Michigan State Outstanding Alumnus Award. He has contributed articles to numerous professional journals, for which he has garnered merit and honor awards. In light of his exceptional achievements, Mr. Robinette was selected for inclusion in the 64th edition of Who's Who in America.
