Mr. Lazar began his career as a lieutenant commander, a naval flight officer, a radar intercept officer, an aerospace engineering duty officer and a weapons system acquisition manager with flight school from 1979 to 1981. Following this opportunity, he served as an F-14A radar intercept officer with Fighter Squadron 32 at the Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach from 1981 to 1985. From 1985 to 1986, Mr. Lazar was active as an F-14 Phoenix missile flight test project officer at the Pacific Missile Test Center at Point Mugu, CA.
Mr. Lazar continued his career at the Pacific Missile Test Center as Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missile program officer from 1986 to 1989. After this appointment, he held the position of F-14A to D remanufacture project officer with the Naval Aviation Depot at Naval Station Norfolk in Virginia from 1989 to 1992 and as F-14 fighter class desk officer with the Pacific fleet air force staff at the Naval Air Station North Island in San Diego County, CA, from 1992 to 1994. From 1995 to 1996, Mr. Lazar was a mechanical subsystems manufacturing engineer on the advanced concept technology demonstration RQ-4 Global Hawk for the Northrop Grumman Corporation.
Mr. Lazar maintained involvement with the Northrop Grumman Corporation as a Miniature Air-Launched Decoy system engineering integrated product team lead from 1997 to 2002 and a Global Hawk Maritime Demo system engineering and integration team lead from 2002 to 2003. He progressed to chief engineer of the Global Hawk maritime demo from 2003 to 2006 and to Global Hawk unmanned aircraft system avionics integrated product team lead from 2006 to 2007. Mr. Lazar concluded his career at Northrop Grumman Corporation as a Global Hawk unmanned aircraft systems integrated product team chief engineer for the block 40 Multi-Platform Radar Technology Insertion Program for active electronically scanned array radar integration and for the Broad Area Maritime Surveillance Headstart Gulfstream Two flight demo for maritime active electronically scanned array radar.
Prior to embarking on his career, Mr. Lazar received a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in aeronautical and astronautical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge in 1979. Mr. Lazar concluded his education with basic naval flight officer and F-14 radar intercept officer flight training from 1979 to 1981.
In addition to his career, Mr. Lazar has been a Grumman Aerospace Corporation, now Northrop Grumman Corporation, scholar for college internships in manufacturing and engineering for F-14 and A-6 assembly lines and in propulsion performance analysis for the flight test center in Calverton, NY, and in computational aerodynamics in Bethpage, NY. He is also a senior member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and in 1974, he was the recipient of the Grumman Aerospace Corporation scholarship. Additionally, he has been decorated with a number of Individual and Strike Flight Air Medals by the United States Navy for combat actions over Grenada and Lebanon. Mr. Lazar has previously been selected for inclusion in the 21st edition of Who's Who in the East.
