With more than 40 years of professional experience, Mr. Thompson has served as a consulting engineer with 7x Engineering & Consulting, LLC, since 2015. Prior to obtaining this role, he retired as a senior principle engineer with the Coca-Cola Company in 2013, having held the position since 2008. Previously serving the Coca-Cola Company as principal engineer from 2002 to 2008 and senior engineer from 1985 to 2002, he was a senior mechanical engineer with Becton-Dickinson from 1982 to 1985. From 1979 to 1982, he was a design engineer with the Doerfer Division of the Container Corporation of America. Earlier in his career, Mr. Thompson was a design engineer with the Maytag Company from 1977 to 1979.
Mr. Thompson began his career as a student at the University of Nebraska, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering in 1976. He subsequently completed postgraduate coursework with the University of Northern Iowa in 1980 and with Mercer University in 1992. He was a registered professional engineer in the states of Iowa and Georgia up until his retirement, and he holds a Six Sigma Black Belt Certification. Mr. Thompson holds multiple patents in the field and he has consulted for several companies.
Throughout his career, Mr. Thompson has been recognized for his contributions, including an honorary bronze medal for his work during the 1996 Olympic Games. He has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and Who's Who in the South and Southwest. In his free time, Mr. Thompson enjoys reading, gardening, woodworking, and coin collecting.
