Mr. Kubiak has worked of general counsel for Grand Traverse Resort and Casinos since 2003 and with his own firm, the Kubiak Law Office, since 2002, both located in Traverse City, MI. He began his career as a budget examiner with the Chicago City Council for one year before becoming of assistant corporate counsel for the city of Chicago from 1960 to 1961 and Assistant Attorney General of the Illinois State Tollway Commission for the following five years. He then became an assistant secretary and corporate attorney at the Maremont Corporation for the next seven years until he served as secretary and assistant general counsel, eventually being promoted to secretary and general counsel for the company. From 1986 to 1994 he was a vice president and general counsel for Prestolite Electric, Inc. From 1994 to 1998, he served as vice president and general counsel of the Christian Broadcasting Network, Inc. and the Asia Pacific Media Corporation, and later was appointed of general counsel for the Religious Heritage of America Foundation and the Freedom Ministries for two years.
Mr. Kubiak earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting from the University of Notre Dame in 1957, graduating cum laude. He went on to obtain a Doctor of Jurisprudence from the university's School of Law three years later. Since graduating, he has served roles in a variety of government-based organizations including the 28th Ward Regular Democratic Organization, the Young Democrats of Illinois, and the Young Democrats of Cook County, among many others.
Aside from his professional roles, Mr. Kubiak served on the board of governors for the Notre Dame Club of Chicago in the late 1970s, and has been a member of numerous bar associations throughout his career. He attributes his success to Jean Allard, who was one of the first female general counsel of a Fortune 500 company and the first woman to become a member of the exclusive club. The highlight of his career was transitioning from the outside business culture, to the religious culture, to now the Native American culture. He is listed in the 27th edition (1991) of Who's Who In Finance and Industry as well as several editions of Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, and Who's Who in the Midwest.
