At the start of his career, he joined J.G. Kretschmer & Company, working there for two years before becoming a general agent with Lincoln Life & Casualty. Over the years, he also honed his skills in finance through his work with Shearson, Hammill & Company, Bear, Stearns & Company, Oppenheimer & Company, Inc., and Visiphor Corporation. Additionally, he served in the rank of major with the United States Army Reserves for 25 years, having also served in the Republic of Korea between 1956 and 1958.
An expert in his field, Mr. Kretschmer holds an Associate of Arts from Wentworth Military Academy, and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Nebraska. Subsequently, he also pursued coursework at the graduate school of business at the University of California, Los Angeles. As a pilot since 1952, he maintains affiliation with the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, the Experimental Aircraft Association and the Seaplane Pilots Association. Applying his investment industry knowledge, he authored "Your Option, The Complete Authoritative Guide to Understanding and Utilizing Stock Options."
Mr. Kretschmer also ran a cattle operation (1,000 head) in Porterville, CA from 1970 to 1982 and bought an olive grove with 8,000 trees in the Porterville area, which he sold in 2005.
For his professional accomplishments, Mr. Kretschmer has been recognized with features in numerous volumes of Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the East.
