Professor Emeritus Martin A. Frey Named a Top Lawyer by Marquis Who's Who

Mr. Frey began his career as an assistant professor of law at Drake University in Des Moines, IA, from 1966 to 1967. After this opportunity, he worked as a professor of law at Texas Tech University in Lubbock from 1967 to 1976. He served as professor of law at the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma from 1976 to 2001, and during this time, also held the position of associate dean from 1981 to 1984. Mr. Frey has been a professor emeritus of the University of Tulsa since 2001.

Prior to embarking on his career, Mr. Frey received a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Northwestern University in 1962. Following this accomplishment, he earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Washington University in St. Louis in 1965 and a Master of Laws from George Washington University in 1966. He was licensed to practice law by the Missouri State Bar in 1965 and the Oklahoma State Bar in 1976. Mr. Frey was also admitted to practice before the United State District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma in 1983.

In addition to his career, Mr. Frey is the author of "Alternative Methods of Dispute Resolution," which was published in 2003. He is the co-author of a number of other books, including "West's Bankruptcy Practice Systems" in 1991, "The Little Black Book: A Do-It-Yourself Guide for Law Student Competitions" in 2001, the fourth edition of "An Introduction to the Law of Contracts" in 2008, the sixth edition of "An Introduction to Bankruptcy Law" in 2012, and "Essentials of Contract Law" in 2016. Mr. Frey was the founder and advisor of the Texas Tech Law Review from 1967 to 1971 and is a regular contributor of articles to professional journals.

Mr. Frey was active as a visiting professor of law at the University of Maine in Portland from 1974 to 1975, Washington University in St. Louis from 1986 to 1987, the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa in 2003, Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC, in 2005, Stetson University in Gulfport, FL, from 2005 to 2006, and Florida International University in Miami, FL, in 2012. He served as a settlement judge with the United State District Court and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma from 1988 to 2018. During this time, he also held the role of reporter of the advisory group for the Civil Justice Reform Act with the United States District Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma from 1991 to 1997 and director of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Center at the University of Tulsa College of Law from 1994 to 2000. Mr. Frey has also contributed to the Financial Crimes Unit of the Tulsa Police Department as a volunteer and is a member of the Council Oak Johnson Sontag American Inn of Court.

Mr. Frey was the recipient of the Distinguished Teacher Award from the University of Tulsa in 1981 and the John S. Athens Leadership Award by the America Inns of Court in 1999. He also received the Lifetime Service Award from the Tulsa Alumni Association in 2000, the Outstanding Professor Award from the Tulsa Law Review from 2003 to 2004, and was selected by the students on a number of occasions as Outstanding Professor. He was initiated to the Honorary Order of the Coif by Washington University in St. Louis in 2015. Mr. Frey has previously been selected for inclusion in the 12th edition of Who's Who in the World and multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in American Law, and Who's Who in the South and Southwest.
