Drawing upon more than five decades of professional experience, Dr. Taylor excelled in the fields of internal medicine and higher education. After serving as a sergeant in the 95th Infantry Division of the United States Army, he began working as an intern with the University of Virginia beginning in 1950. Subsequently, he completed a fellowship in internal medicine through the Cleveland Clinic and pursued a senior residency through the University of Virginia, which he completed in 1954. Concluding his career in private practice in 2003, he also lent his expertise to the University of Virginia as an instructor of internal medicine. In addition, he has gained a plethora of experience through board positions with Westminster Canterbury in Charlottesville, VA, and Martha Jefferson Hospital.
A diplomate through the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Taylor holds a Bachelor of Science from Hampden-Sydney College and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Virginia, which he earned in 1943 and 1950, respectively. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, he has maintained affiliation with the Albemarle County Medical Society, where he briefly served as president in 1980, the Medical Society of Virginia, and the American Medical Association. Likewise, he has been associated with the Farmington Country Club, Rotary International, the Mayflower Society and the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.
In light of his outstanding accomplishments, Dr. Taylor has been award many times, earning the WWII French Legion Honor in 2013, the Gammon Cup from Hampden-Sydney College, and the President's Senior Award. He has additionally been featured in the 23rd edition of Who's Who in the South and Southwest and the first edition of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare. Looking ahead, Dr. Taylor intends to continue enjoying his retirement.
