With nearly 40 years of professional experience, Ms. Skeet has served in a number of roles with the New York State Higher Education Services Corporation, including on the advisory board of directors and on the advisory board of financial aid for colleges and technical schools since 1982, as an information specialist since 1983, and as a coordinator and program analyst from 1982 to 1983. Earlier in her career, Ms. Skeet was a financial aid counselor and assistant director of student aid at Columbia University from 1979 to 1982.
Ms. Skeet began her career as a student at Finch College, completing coursework in 1975. She then joined Long Island University, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in political science in 1976 and a certificate in criminal justice. She concluded her studies at Columbia University, earning a Master of Arts in 1980. Ms. Skeet is a notary public in the state of New York.
A respected voice in her community, Ms. Skeet has held a number of leadership positions with organizations in relation to her areas of expertise. She was vice president and financial aid consultant for Alpha Kappa Alpha and a trust member for the Finch College Alumni Association. She was an assistant administrator for the Bronx Division Council of Churches, and a voter registrar for the J. Raymond Jones Democracy Club. Ms. Skeet is also a preventions and intervention specialist with the New York City Board of Education.
Throughout her career, Ms. Skeet has been recognized for her contributions, including as a grantee of the Clark Foundation. In addition, Alpha Kappa Alpha gave her the Merit and Service Award, and she received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Finch College Alumni Association. She has been featured in Who's Who of American Women.
