With more than 30 years of industry experience to his credit, Mr. Hinton currently serves as associate director for national operations in the Department of Defense – State Liaison Office, a position he has held since 2004. Previously, Mr. Hinton served as director of state relations for the Heritage Foundation. His career began as vice president of government relations and community development for the Marion-Grant County Chamber of Commerce. In 1989, he was named director of customer relations for the Wesley Press Publishing Company before becoming senior vice president of T-3/Family Companies.
Prior to commencing his career, Mr. Hinton received a Bachelor of Science from Indiana Wesleyan University. In 2010, he earned a Master of Arts from Canterbury University in the United Kingdom. He has also studied at the Buckley School of Public Speaking.
Mr. Hinton is a member of the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children's advisory board. He previously served as administrative director for the United States Fireworks Safety Council. Outside of his career responsibilities, Mr. Hinton has held leadership positions for a number of civic organizations including the Public Safety and Civil Justice Task Force of the Council of State Governments, the Grant County Crime Stoppers and the Grant County Highway Study Commission.
Mr. Hinton was a contributing author of the study "Four Essential Principles for Education Success" and editor of the Heritage Foundation's "The Capitol Exchange" blog. For his work, Mr. Hinton has been the recipient of numerous professional honors. He was named colonel and aide-de-camp to the governor of New Mexico in 2002. In addition, Mr. Hinton was awarded the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels in 1994 and the Small Business Builder's Award by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, and received the alumni Outstanding Achievement Award in Political Science from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2001. In light of his exceptional undertakings, Mr. Hinton was selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in America.
