Mr. Crockett recently retired as partner of Fennemore Craig PC in 2017 after first being taken on board by the law firm in 1963. A full-service law firm that recently celebrated its 130th year in business in 2015, it is among 250 of the largest law firms in the nation with six locations across Colorado, Nevada and Arizona. Working out of their Phoenix office, Mr. Crockett specialized in administrative law, government legislation, utilities, environmental and natural resources.
Prior to working for Fennemore Craig for more than 50 years, Mr. Crockett served as a Clerk of the Arizona Supreme Court. He was also a Business Law Instructor for Mesa Community College. He later served as General Counsel for Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph Company in Arizona and served on the Board of Directors for Southwest Airlines Co.
Mr. Crockett was a longstanding member of the American Bar Association, the Maricopa County Bar Association, the American Judicature Society, and is currently a member of the State Bar of Arizona. He has also been a member of the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Arizona Academy and the Mesa United Way. Devoting his earlier years to the Charter Review Committee and Board of Adjustment in Scottsdale, Arizona, he also served on the Board of Directors for the Maricopa Mental Health Association, was a member of the Mesa Crime Commission in Arizona, and served many years on the City of Mesa's Board of Adjustment. Known for participation in various political activities and campaigns in his downtime, Mr. Crockett was a two-term Presidential Elector for President George W. Bush. As a young man, he served a two-year Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and later served as a Bishop in the Church in Arizona.
Very active on campus while pursuing his Bachelor of Science Degree at Brigham Young University, in Provo, Utah, Mr. Crockett was President of the Student Body during his Senior year in 1958. Following his graduation, he obtained an MBA Degree from Northwestern University. While working toward a Law Degree at the University of Arizona in Tucson, he also served on the Editorial Board of the Arizona Law Review. Completing his degree in 1962, he was soon after admitted to the Arizona Bar Association, the Supreme Court of the United States, United States District Court of Arizona and the United States Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
During his college years, Mr. Crockett joined the United States Army Reserves. He has been included in multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the West, and the First Edition of Who's Who in Corporate America. Mr. Crockett considers the highlight of his career to be when he received the Jesse A. Udall Distinguished Service Award in recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community.
