Prior to embarking on his initial career, he received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the California State University Maritime Academy in Vallejo in 1958. He served his military career as an attack pilot for the United States Navy, advancing through the grades from ensign to lieutenant from 1958 until he was disabled in the line of duty and retired in 1967. Following this appointment, Mr. Fleming earned his Master of Business Administration from Syracuse University in New York in 1970; the founding for this was done through the Veterans Administration, naval retirement and the Carrier Corporation.
Mr. Fleming began his civilian career as a mechanical engineer at the Carrier Corporation in Syracuse, NY, from 1967 to 1970. After this opportunity, he worked for Rheem Manufacturing in Atlanta, GA, as regional sales manager from 1970 to 1971. From 1971 to 1973, he served as a market development supervisor for Owens Corning in Toledo, OH, and from 1975 to 1986, he held the position of president at W. S. Fleming & Associates, Inc., in Syracuse. Mr. Fleming was active as president of the Fleming Group in Syracuse from 1986 to 1987 and maintained involvement with the Fleming Group from 1987 to 1994 as chief executive officer and chairman of the board.
Mr. Fleming contributed to the Science Applications International Corporation and the Fleming Group as business development manager of the energy systems group from 1994 to 1996. He was further involved with Science Applications International Corporation as the business development manager from 1996 to 1997. He was appointed to the position of executive vice president of Jacwill Services, Inc., in St. Petersburg, FL, and Cazenovia, NY, from 1997 to 2007. Mr. Fleming has continued his career with Jacwill Services, Inc., in St. Petersburg as owner since 2007.
In addition to his career, Mr. Fleming held the position of president of Enterlog Systems, Inc., in Syracuse from 1985 to 1994. During this time, he was also active as chairman of the board for the Association of Intelligent Systems Technology, Inc., in Syracuse. He also authored the Singer Energy Group LLC economic building simulation computer program and is a regular contributor of articles to professional journals. Mr. Fleming is a fellow of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, where he has served on a number of committees, and a member of Disabled American Veterans, the Association of Energy Engineers, the Military Officers Association of America and the American Legion.
Mr. Fleming was the recipient of an Energy Award from Central New York in 1981. The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers presented him with the Distinguished Service Award in 2006 and the Exceptional Service Award in 2011. He has also been named to the Association of Energy Engineers Hall of Fame. Mr. Fleming has previously been selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in America, and Who's Who in Finance and Business.
