A highly esteemed and accomplished scientist with nearly 50 years of experience to his credit, Dr. Hasegawa is currently retired, having most recently served as vice president of research and development for Metglas, Inc., a position he held from 2003 to 2016. Initially hired by the company when it was known as Allied-Signal, he initially excelled as a senior staff physicist and group leader from 1975 to 1980. At Allied-Signal, Dr. Hasegawa further worked as a research associate and senior research associate between 1980 and 1985, and the vice president of the Nippon amorphous metals division from 1985 to 1989.
Prior to embarking on his professional path, Dr. Hasegawa earned a Master of Science in 1968 from the California Institute of Technology. He later obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in material sciences from the California Institute of Technology in 1969. In 1969, Dr. Hasegawa began a research fellowship with the California Institute of Technology before finding success as a postdoctoral fellow for IBM from 1973 to 1975.
Dr. Hasegawa has received 60 patents in amorphous magnetic materials and their applications. In addition to his primary career responsibilities, Dr. Hasegawa served as an adjunct professor for the University of Tokyo from 1988 to 1989 and on the board of directors of Nipon Amorphous Metals Company from 1985 to 2008. Dr. Hasegawa also was editor of "Glassy Metals: Magnetic, Chemical and Structural Properties," co-editor of "Amorphous Magnetism II" and contributor of numerous technical papers to 160 referred scientific journals.
In light of his exceptional undertakings, Dr. Hasegawa has accrued several accolades throughout his impressive career. A fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, he is also a member of the American Physical Society, Materials Research Society and Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Honor Society. In light of his exceptional undertakings, Dr. Hasegawa was selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in America and the 2nd edition of Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
