Amassing more than 40 years of professional experience, Mr. Leonard is a celebrated automotive executive who most recently served as the managing partner of Executive Resources, Inc., from 1994 to 2002. Prior to this appointment, he was president of Harman, Inc., from 1991 to 1994, vice president and group executive of Allied Signal Automotive from 1983 to 1991, and group vice president of Bendix Corporation from 1975 to 1983, where he helped to establish companies in the Republic of Korea and India. Mr. Leonard began his career as an executive of the Chrysler Corporation from 1959 to 1975.
Alongside his primary endeavors, Mr. Leonard was on the board of directors of Kalyani Brake Company in Pune, India, Bendix France, and Bendix Italy, among other foreign subsidiaries. The former chairman of the Presbyterian Villages of Michigan, he also earned the rank of trustee emeritus at Alma College. In order to remain aware of changes within his industry, Mr. Leonard maintained affiliation with SAE International and Delta Sigma Phi, where he previously served as president from 1958 to 1959.
To prepare for his illustrious career, Mr. Leonard pursued a formal education at Alma College, earning a Master of Arts in 1959. He subsequently attended Wayne State University, where he received a Master of Business Administration in 1964. After obtaining hands-on experience in the field, he graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Master of Science in 1971. While pursuing his graduate degree at MIT, Mr. Leonard was elected a Sloan Fellow, which he considers to be among the highlights of his career.
Married to Fran Leonard since 1960, Mr. Leonard is the proud father of two daughters, Kristin and Anne, and five grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys swimming, golfing and boating. Notably, Mr. Leonard was selected for inclusion in several editions of Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the Midwest and Who's Who in the World.
