Dr. John Biggs was named to the 100 Hall of Fame of the National Association of Corporate Directors.

With more than 55 years of professional experience, Dr. Biggs was an executive-in-residence with the Stern School of Business at New York University from 2004 to 2016. Prior to obtaining this role, he was president, chief executive officer and chair of the Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association College Retirement Equities Fund from 1993 to 2002, having been the chief operating officer since 1989. From 1985 to 1989, he was chair, president, and chief executive officer of Centerre Trust Company, and from 1977 to 1985, he was vice chancellor for administration and finance at Washington University. Earlier in his career, Dr. Biggs was vice president and controller of the General American Life Insurance Company from 1970 to 1977, and various actuarial positions from 1958 to 1977.
Dr. Biggs began his career as a student at Harvard University, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, in 1958. After gaining some experience in the field, he returned to his studies at Washington University, earning a Doctor of Philosophy in economics in 1983. A respected voice in the field, he has been affiliated with numerous organizations in relation to his areas of expertise, including the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the Council on Foreign Relations.
In addition to his primary work, Dr. Biggs has held several leadership positions in his industry, including as a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors. He is the former director and past chair of the National Bureau of Economic Affairs and past chair of the United Way of New York City. He is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries, Dr. Biggs was a trustee of the Danforth Foundation, Emeriti Health Services, Washington University, and the J. Paul Getty Trust. He was a trustee of Financial Accounting Foundation, the International Accounting Foundation and the SEC's/AICPA joint committee on public audits.
Throughout his career, Dr. Biggs has been recognized for his contributions, including having been named to the 100 Hall of Fame of the National Association of Corporate Directors. In addition, Washington University gave him a Search Award for his financial innovations. Dr. Biggs has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the East and Who's Who in the World. He has received honorary degrees from Trinity College (Hartford, CT), The University of the South (Sewanee) and Washington University in St. Louis.
