With nearly 60 years of professional experience, Ms. Wyllie was the president and owner of Intekton from 1977 to 2013. Prior to obtaining these roles, she was a designer with the Space Design Group from 1974 to 1977, and she was managing editor of the Journal of Geology by the University of Chicago Press from 1967 to 1972. Earlier in her career, Ms. Wyllie was a secretary for Pennsylvania State University from 1956 to 1959.
Ms. Wyllie began her career as a student at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, obtaining a Master of Arts in 1955. She later returned to her studies at the Harrington College of Design, earning a diploma in design in 1974 and serving as a member of the college's faculty from 1977 to 1983. Ms. Wyllie is a professional member of the International Interior Design Association and was certified in the state of California. She was a co-founder of the Caltech Architectural Tour Service, and former president of the Caltech Women's Club. For her volunteer work at the Institute, Ms. Wyllie was made an honorary member of the Alumni Association, California Institute of Technology in 1996. She is also a member of the Zamorano Club, the Society of Architectural Historians, and the Historical Society of Southern California.
A respected voice in her community, Ms. Wyllie has written extensively in her areas of expertise. She is the author of "Eva Maddox: Innovator, Designer, Educator," "Loving Andrew: A Fifty-Two Year Story of Down Syndrome," "Bertram Goodhue: His Life and Residential Architecture" and "Caltech's Architectural Heritage: From Spanish Tile to Modern Stone." In addition, she was the editor of "Bob Ray Offenhauser: An Architect's Journey," and she is a reader at the Huntington Library.
Throughout her career, Ms. Wyllie has been recognized for her contributions, including having received eight awards for her book "Loving Andrew." She has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the West and Who's Who of American Women. Ms. Wyllie enjoys tennis, art, photography and travel in her free time.
