SCRANTON, PA, November 26, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Jeannette Emily Barnes with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Barnes celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
A former nurse anesthetist, Ms. Barnes worked in the health care industry for many years. First hired at Moses Taylor Hospital in Scranton, PA, as a staff nurse in 1958, she later worked for a series of clinics, medical centers and hospitals in the area. Eventually earning the title of chief nurse anesthetist at Scranton Surgery Center in Scranton, PA, she later practiced with Pennsylvania Gastroenterology Consultant before ultimately retiring in 2003.
During her career, Ms. Barnes was a private practice counselor with Caring Counseling Services in Scranton between 1980 and 2003 and was a student counselor for Mercy Hospital School of Anesthesia in Scranton between 1980 and 1991. She was also the vice president, secretary and co-owner of M.J. Spott Construction Company, Inc., also in Scranton, between 1978 and 2001.
Ms. Barnes is a fellow of the National Board of Clinical Hypnotherapists and longtime member of the Pennsylvania Counselors Association, the American Board of Certified Counselors and the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA). She was notably the recipient of an AANA Squibb Scholarship in 1965 and has since been included in several editions of Who's Who in American Nursing and Who's Who of American Women between 1989 and 2007.
Nicknamed "Scranton's Miracle Baby" in a local newspaper when she was just a child, Ms. Barnes was born with her abdominal organs on the outside of her body. Not expected to live, one very special surgeon worked on her and was able to open the sac and place her organs back inside of her abdomen. A successful surgery, Ms. Barnes became great friends with the surgeon later in life and even had the opportunity to operate alongside him as a nurse anesthetist. It was the biggest thrill of her life.
Ms. Barnes has been a graduate nurse anesthetist through Allentown General Hospital since 1963. She has also held a Bachelor of Science in nursing education from Wilkes College since 1969 and a Master of Arts in counseling from Marywood College since 1981. She is a diplomate of the National Board of Disability Analysists, national certified counselor, certified registered nurse anesthetist and certified legal nurse consultant, registered nurse in the state of Pennsylvania and licensed professional counselor in the state of Pennsylvania.
The proud mother of five children, Ms. Barnes also has one grandson and one granddaughter. Since her retirement, she has been enjoying listening to music, reading, cooking, and gardening.
