Dr. Russell began her career as a student at the Università di Napoli Federico II, receiving a laurea in 1954. She subsequently relocated to the United States in 1961. After obtaining some experience in the field, she returned to her studies at Columbia University, earning a Doctor of Philosophy in 1971.
A respected voice in her community, Dr. Russell has been active with a number of organizations in relation to her areas of interest. She is a member of the Modern Language Association and the Renaissance Society of America. Dr. Russell is the editor of "Italian Women Writers," "Dialogue on the Infinity of Love" and "The Feminist Encyclopedia of Italian Literature." She is also the translator and editor of "Sister Maria Celeste's Letters to her Father, Galileo," "Margherita Sarrocchi: Scanderbeide. The Heroic Deeds of George Scanderbeg," "Lorenzo de' Medici: The Partridge Hunt" and "Sonnet: The Very Rich and Varied World of the Italian Sonnet."
Throughout her career, Dr. Russell has been recognized for her contributions. She has been featured in numerous honors publications, including the seventh and eighth editions of Who's Who in American Education and the 24th edition of Who's Who in the East. In her free time, she enjoys painting.
