With 25 years of professional excellence behind her, Dr. Yasuoka currently works as a lector with Kobe Pharmaceutical University. Previously, she served Kobe Pharmaceutical University as an assistant in 1990. Dr. Yasuoka's accrued experience led her to discover an atmospheric radon level increase prior to the Kobe earthquake on January 17, 1995, having performed an analysis of variations in atmospheric radon concentration prior to the earthquake using an exhaust monitor and measured radon concentration of outdoor air using an ionization chamber for a radioisotope monitoring system.
An expert in her field, Dr. Yasuoka earned a Bachelor's degree from Kobe Women's College of Pharmacy, now recognized as the Kobe Pharmaceutical University. She concluded her studies with a Doctor of Science from Niigata University. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, Dr. Yasuoka is affiliated with The Pharmaceutical Society of Japan, the Japan Health Physics Society, the Japan Radioisotope Association, the Japanese Society of Radiation Safety Management, The Japanese Society of Hot Spring Sciences and The Geochemical Society of Japan.
Over the years, Dr. Yasuoka has contributed her knowledge to a plethora of published articles, including "anomalous changes in atmospheric radon concentration before and after the 2011 northern Wakayama Earthquake," "effect of a desiccant on the measurement of radon concentration in air" and "a simplified method for improved determination of radon concentration in environmental water sample." Due to her outstanding accomplishments, she accepted grants from the Tokio Marine Kagami Memorial Foundation and the Research Foundation for the Electrotechnology of Chubu. She was further presented with the Excellent Oral Presentation Prize at the 42nd Annual Meeting of the Japan Health Physics Society. In the near future, Dr. Yasuoka intends to experience the continued success of her career.
