Peter Rockefeller Carpenter Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Drawing upon a Bachelor of Arts from The Pennsylvania State University in University Park, Mr. Carpenter initially worked for the J.C. Penney Company as a department manager in Menlo Park, NJ from 1965 to 1967. He then served as an operations manager at Allstate Insurance Co. in Summit, NJ, from 1967 to 1971. He went on to work for such companies as Prudential Property & Casualty, Fortune Properties, M&I Marshall & Ilsley Trust Co. and Lutheran Social Services of the Southwest, where he served as director of planned giving. He also served as vice president of sales and marketing for Northern Trust of Arizona for 9 years. More recently, Mr. Carpenter worked as vice president of the trust department at the Founders Bank of Arizona from 1995 to 1996 and vice president and director of sales and marketing at the Southwest region Wells Fargo Private Client Services, positions he held until his retirement in 2000.

Throughout his career's duration, Mr. Carpenter has maintained interest and cultivated significant ability in sales, which has translated directly to his work in marketing, insurance and the financial industry. Furthermore, his career also encompasses advisory work with the College of Education at Northern Arizona University and involvement with the Life Underwriters Association of Phoenix, and he is especially notable for his work with Kiwanis International. Through his connection with Kiwanis International, he became involved with Gompers Rehabilitation Center, where he served as secretary on the executive board and was the chairman of the board of directors for 10 years. Inspired by his clients, Mr. Carpenter demonstrated considerable commitment to caring for others while working for Kiwanis International, and considers it to be the highlight of his career.

Mr. Carpenter has been involved with an array of other civic organizations, including the Valley of the Sun United Way in Phoenix, the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Scottsdale, the Scottsdale Cultural Council, the Herberger Theatre Center and Scottsdale Healthcare Hospital, where he volunteered in the emergency department from 2009 to 2012. The recipient of numerous civic service recognitions, he was also the recipient of the Citizen Award from the city of Scottsdale in 1977 for serving as the founder and chairman of an ambassadors organization for the Chamber of Commerce. Due to his active involvement, Mr. Carpenter is a distinguished president and a distinguished lieutenant governor with Kiwanis International, and was in the Legion of Honor in 2002, 2009 and 2011. He also maintains connections with a variety of other organizations, including the Penn State University Alumni Association, the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution and the Navy League of the United States, due to his active and reserve service from 1962 to 1968. He is a Mason, a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of The Shriners.

From 1992 to 1995, he served as president of the congregation of Ascension Lutheran Church in Scottsdale, AZ and later president of the congregation of Christ the Lord Lutheran Church in Carefree, AZ.

Peter Rockefeller Carpenter is the son of Alvin Witmer Carpenter, Esq. and Katharine (Rockefeller) C. Mr. Carpenter married Janet Ross Buck on August 24, 1963; she passed on August 20, 2011. They have three grown children, Karen L. Althaus, Jean E. Chronis and Peter A. Carpenter, and seven grandchildren.
