In addition to her primary roles, she served on the City Council of Hoboken, NJ, from 1995 to 2015, becoming the longest serving woman in the city's history.
Ms. Castellano was inspired to pursue a career in public service from an early age, having been encouraged by her cousin who was a perennial contender for council member and an eventual mayor. She became the first woman to run successfully for 5 consecutive terms, a council career spanning 20 years. She also pursued an education at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and she is a registered dental hygienist in the state of New Jersey.
A respected voice in her community, Ms. Castellano has been affiliated with a number of organizations in her areas of expertise. She is a member of the President Parents' Association of All Saints Episcopal, the Hudson County Democratic Organization, and the Antony Russo Civic Association. She is the Chairwoman of the Hoboken Historic Preservation Commission and the Hoboken Zoning Board of Adjustment. Ms. Castellano served as the President of the Hoboken Business and Industry Organization and an original Trustee of the Hoboken Historical Museum.
Throughout her career, Ms. Castellano has been recognized for her achievements. She received the Historic Preservation Award, the Christopher Columbus Outstanding Community Service Award, and she was named the Italian Woman of the Year. She has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who of American Women. In her free time, Ms. Castellano enjoys civic activities and water sports.
