Early in her career, she began teaching with Ruby Ray Swift Elementary School, remaining there for two years. Between her teaching positions, she worked as co-owner of the Felts Family Shoe Store as well. In a career filled with highlights, the one that stands out is having former students recognize her and thank her for what she did for them.
An expert in her field, Ms. Felts holds a Bachelor of Science in education from Northeastern State University. In order to remain aware of changes in the field, she has maintained affiliation with the Northeastern State University Alumni Association since 1976, where she served as president-elect from 1990 to 1991 and president from 1991 to 1993. Additionally, she lent her time to the Boy Scouts of America and St. Paul's Methodist Church in Muskogee where she was voted Mother of the Year in 1978.
Due to her industry excellence, Ms. Felts has earned a number of awards, including the Boy Scouts Silver Beaver Award through the Tulsa Council in 1985. She was also named Teacher of the Year in 1988 at Hilldale Public Schools. Since the early 1990s, she has also been featured in such professional publications as Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the South and Southwest, Who's Who in American Education and Who's Who of American Women. Looking ahead, Ms. Felts intends to continue enjoying her retirement.
