Jeffrey Townsend Ackerson concluded his career as a program manager with The MITRE Corporation in McLean, Va. after 12 years of service.

MITRE is a not-for-profit organization that works in the public interest across federal, state and local governments, as well as industry and academia, bringing innovative ideas into existence in such areas as artificial intelligence, intuitive data science, quantum information science, health informatics and space security. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Ackerson was affiliated with the American Management Systems in Fairfax, Va. between 2000 and 2003.
Mr. Ackerson worked as the director of system integration for MCI Systemhouse Inc. in Owings, Md. between 1993 and 2000 as well as program director and vice president for Integrated Microcomputer Systems, Inc. in Dahlgren, Va. and Rockville, Md. between 1986 and 1993. Entering the industry upon his honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy, Mr. Ackerson first served as the head of the programming division for the Fleet Intelligence Center in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii between 1976 and 1980. Locally, he was active as a data processing coordinator for the American Youth Soccer Organization in Aiea, Hawaii between 1977 and 1980. Throughout his career, Mr. Ackerson has also authored numerous articles in various professional journals in his area of expertise.
A commissioned ensign in the U.S. Navy in 1966, Mr. Ackerson obtained a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute that same year. He then earned a Master of Science in computer systems management at the Naval Postgraduate School in 1976. Mr. Ackerson has notably been honored in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the East and Who's Who in the Media and Communication for his success in the industry.
