He had also served as Special Assistant Attorney General, among other roles, for the Illinois Attorney General Office.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1935 to parents John Edward Veverka and Irene Cecelia (Wasil) Veverka, he developed an interest in pursuing law as a career as a young man. After completing his law degree, Mr. Veverka joined the Cook County State's Attorney's Office, working as an Assistant State's Attorney in the Civil Appeals Section from 1963 to 1967. He then spent a year in the Appeals Section of the Illinois Attorney General Office, and later spent two years there as a Special Assistant Attorney General. He later transitioned to a partnership at Speranza & Veverka (1974-1990), and then at Veverka Rosen & Haugh (1990-2017), before opening his solo practice in 2017.

Outside of his work as a distinguished practicing attorney, he has served in a number of leadership positions in various agencies and organizations. He formerly served as Chairman of the Illinois Supreme Court Committee on Pattern Jury Instructions, and served as a member of the committee for over 20 years. He also served as a member of the Illinois Bar Association Young Lawyers Association counseling law students. He has contributed a number of articles and papers to professional journals, and published a book titled "How to Buy or Sell Your Home Without a Lawyer."

Mr. Veverka has also made community and civic service a priority throughout his life. From 1967 to 1969, he served in the United States Army as a 1st Lieutenant and he later served as a Captain in the United States Army Reserve.
