Concluding her career in 2007, she most recently spent 24 years as a night charge nurse at the MiraVista Care Center in Mount Vernon, WA. She formerly worked in the same capacity in the obstetrics department at United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley, WA, from 1971 to 1983. Ms. Oxyer was also employed as a staff nurse for several other hospitals, as well as for the Beale Air Force Base in California, the Ramey Air Force Base in Puerto Rico, and the Loring Air Force Base in Maine.
Ms. Oxyer has been cited in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Nursing and Who's Who Among Human Services Professionals. Studying at Northwest Nazarene University between 1953 and 1954, she became a registered nurse through the Bismarck Hospital School of Nursing in 1953. She is also certified in advanced obstetrics and fetal monitoring.
Born in Esmond, ND, to parents Carl Marshall and Olive Rose Walter Stevens, Ms. Oxyer grew up following in the footsteps of her mother, who was also a nurse. Today, Ms. Oxyer is the proud parent of her own three children. Enjoying her retirement, she loves to read, crochet and work in her garden. She also enjoys spending time working with children and serving lunches at her local church's school.
