Retired as an elementary school educator, Ms. Colbert excelled as a teacher for the Chambersburg Area School District in Pennsylvania from 1977 to 2011. Likewise, she worked as the coach for the girl's eighth grade basketball team at the J. Frank Faust Junior High School in Chambersburg, PA for 23 years. In 2003, she was recognized as Franklin County Sportsperson of the Year. Prior to joining the Chambersburg faculty, she served as a teacher for the Greencastle-Antrim School District in 1976.
Earning a Bachelor of Science in education in 1975 and Master of Arts in education in 1979 from Shippensburg University, Ms. Colbert also holds a level II certification in instruction. She is a longstanding member of the National Education Association, the Pennsylvania Education Association and the Chambersburg Area Education Association. Furthermore, she has been selected for inclusion in several editions of Who's Who in America and Who's Who of American Women.
Born in Waynesboro, Pa., Ms. Colbert grew up in a low socioeconomic background. Raised by a single parent, she sought to create a better life for herself, and dedicating her efforts to obtaining a solid education. The first of her immediate family to attend college, attaining the post of an elementary school teacher has been one of the highlights of Ms. Colbert's life.
