Piyush C. Agrawal Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Agrawal, EdD with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Agrawal celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. With more than 60 years of experience, Dr. Agrawal has worked as the president and the chief executive officer for Allied Joint Venture, Inc. from 2007 to 2017, as well as the chair and the chief executive officer of APS Technologies from 2000 to 2018. Prior to these appointments, he served the Piscataway Township Board of Education from 1992 to 1999 in such roles as associate superintendent for curriculum and instruction, deputy superintendent of schools, and acting superintendent of schools.

Before taking on this role, Dr. Agrawal was the supervisor for mathematic programs in Miami-Dade County Public Schools and the director of the Metric Education Project with the Capital District Regional Planning Center. Before immigrating to the United States, he acted as an expert at UNESCO and the department head of secondary schools in the Delhi Administration as well as at 2-year colleges in Agra, India where he also taught.

Notably, Dr. Agrawal has promoted the US-India Nuclear Treaty through writings and networking with the US Congress and Senate. For his work on this initiative, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh wrote him a personal letter of appreciation. Before this, he was featured in the lead story of former Prime Minister Singh's meeting with former President Bush on the issue of nuclear treaty on Aaj Tak television editions in India and abroad.

Throughout his impressive career, one moment that stands out in Dr. Agrawal's memory is the moment he was invited to former President George Bush's Christmas party. He explained that his wife was in India at the time, but he would be honored to go. The former president's secretary insisted that he come at a later date so that his wife could join him. When they visited the White House in 2008, former President Bush asked his wife how her trip to India was. He was grateful to him for his consideration and thoughtfulness. This moment made him feel proud to be a citizen of the United States.

Five years prior to this, Dr. Agrawal met with former President Bush and emphasized the need for the White House to host the Indian Festival of Diwali. The first ever Diwali event took place just six weeks later and the festival has been celebrated regularly ever since.

Dr. Agrawal has hosted several Parliamentary Delegations from India including the ones headed by Speaker Meira Kumar, Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, Speaker Manohar Joshi, Speaker Balram Jhakkar, and Shri Kailash Joshi, former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh.

Leading up to these achievements, Dr. Agrawal pursued a formal education at various academic institutions. He began his studies at Agra University, now known as Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar University, and earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Mathematics. He also received a Bachelor of Education from the University of Delhi. He continued his academic career at the University of Albany, obtaining a Master of Science, an Education Specialist degree, and a Doctor of Education. There, he was a graduate assistant and a graduate fellow.

Dr. Agrawal has earned certification in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and general science by the state of New York as a school supervisor, administrator, and district administrator. Similarly, he is certified in mathematics, chemistry, and physics by the state of Florida as a professional school supervisor and administrator. Moreover, he is a certified school administrator in the state of New Jersey.

Aside from his primary endeavors, he has been a panelist on the National Advisory Panel for the Numbers Alive Project with Maryland Public Television as well as an invited lecturer and moderator at various academic conferences and symposiums. Dr. Agrawal has found much success with his creative works as well, having contributed articles to more than 25 publications. He has previously served as the editorial advisor for the Glencoe Publishing Company and on many occasions was featured as a guest on Voice of America Radio.

With the Florida Department of Education, Dr. Agrawal has been the chairman of the South Florida Committee as well as a member of the Teacher Education Program Approval Evaluation Committee for such institutions as Florida Atlantic University, University of Miami, and Florida International University. He has consulted for McGraw-Hill Education, Glencoe Publishing Company, William H. Sadlier, Inc., Maryland State Department of Education, and the University of Miami, among others. Furthermore, he has been a member of state and national selections committees for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching Program.

As National President of two of the four major grassroots organizations in the USA (The Association of Indians in America: AIA and The Global Organization of People of Indian Origin: GOPIO), Dr. Agrawal has shown leadership and vision to serve the community by establishing the Center for Public Policy, the Center for Responsible Citizenship, the Center for Developmental Leadership, the Center for Unity and Diversity, and the Center for South Asian Studies.

Dr. Agrawal remains active with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise, such as the National Council for South Asian Affairs, Asian and Pacific Islander Populations, the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, and the Florida Leadership Alliance for Improving Mathematics Education. Furthermore, he has held leadership roles in the Asian American Federation of Florida, the Florida Council of Teachers and Mathematics, and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Other affiliations include with the Advisory Committee of the United States Census Bureau, the Florida Association of Instructional Supervisors and Administrators, and the Dade County School Administrators' Association.

In light of his exceptional undertakings, Dr. Agrawal has accrued several accolades throughout his career. He was presented with the Excellence in Education Award from the University at Albany, the Outstanding Service to the Community Award from the American Association for Civic Responsibility, the Outstanding Contribution to the Indian American Community Award from the Florida Indian Association, and the Creating A Voice Award from the Indian American Political Awareness Committee. Most recently, in 2017 he received a Global Partnership Award for his work as an international service activist and philanthropist from the United Nations Association of the United States of America and the United Nations Foundation.

He additionally received honors from the I/D/E/A/ Academy of Fellows, the Florida Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and the Florida Association of Mathematics Supervisors. Moreover, he was bestowed with the key to the city of Coral Gables, FL.

Commemorated with "Dr. Piyush C. Agrawal Day" by the 23rd Congressional District for the state of Florida, Dr. Agrawal was previously celebrated for Outstanding Professional and Community Service by Miami-Dade County, FL, as well as for Outstanding Contributions by the American Mathematics Competitions. Recognized among the Personalities of America and the 5,000 Personalities of the World, he was honored for his Outstanding Contribution to Census Planning by the United States Census Bureau.
