Longtime professional photographer of more than 40 years, Mr. Tambara has owned and operated Terry Tambara Photography in Oregon since 1976. His passion for the art form came from an interest in photography that his father and grandfather both shared. Mr. Tambara has also worked in other fields throughout the course of his long career. He was vice president of Taisho International and president of its sister company, Asobi Industries; both retail distributor companies in Portland, Oregon. In addition, Mr. Tambara created and owned a line of cosmetics and skin care products called Origami Cosmetics as a result of his experience with makeup as a photographer. Also, for nearly a decade in conjunction with his photography business, he was a graphic designer working in advertising and corporate identity as owner of Terry Tambara Design. Furthermore, he is a third generation orchardist and owner of Suzuki Tambara Inc.; president since 2006 in Parkdale, Oregon.
Mr. Tambara is featured in two volumes of "American Photographers at the Turn of the Century" series as part of a select group of this country's contemporary photographers. He has notably been cited in the 20th edition of Who's Who in the West for his contributions. He attended University of Oregon in 1969, held an Associates Arts degree from Lane Community College since 1973, a Bachelor of Science degree from Portland State University since 1976, and a diploma in photography from the New York Institute of Photography since 1977. Mr. Tambara was also a volleyball player/coach at Lane Community College in 1973 and a past president of the Forest Grove Camera Club in Forest Grove, Oregon.
