CBRE is a commercial real estate services and investment firm that is based in Los Angeles, CA. The largest company of its kind in the world, the firm operates more than 450 offices worldwide and has clients in more than 100 countries. Mr. Albano has also been the president of his own firm, Albano & Associates, in Honolulu, HI, since 1984.
A former principal broker for General Growth Management of Hawaii, Inc., between 1993 and 1996, Mr. Albano also spent time as the executive vice president for MidPac Development Ltd. between 1979 and 1984. Prior to entering real estate, Mr. Albano started as a nuclear power engineer at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard during the 1960s when the country was seeking individuals to pursue careers in engineering due to the Soviet Union excelling in the space race. Becoming a nuclear power engineer for the U.S. Navy between 1965 and 1967, he then worked as an electrical engineer for the Federal Aviation Administration in Honolulu from 1967 to 1969 and the Honolulu Board of Water Supply from 1969 and 1979. Transitioning out of engineering and into real estate after nearly 15 years, Mr. Albano's decision was due to his interest in the human element as opposed to the technical components of the job.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Albano has served as the vice chairman of the University of Hawaii Board of Regents as well as the University of Hawaii Research Corporation. He also served as chairman of the standing committee on finance and facilities and the chairman of the public/private partnership task group.
Mr. Albano is a former member of the National Society of Professional Engineers and the Hawaii Society of Professional Engineers. He was the former president of both the Development Association of Hawaii and the Hawaii Developers Council. He is also a longtime member of Rotary International and Beta Gamma Sigma.
Since 1989, Mr. Albano has been showcased in more than 20 editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in the West and Who's Who in the World. He has held a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Hawaii since 1965 and 1972, respectively.
Born and raised in Honolulu, Mr. Albano later married his wife Sandra Kam Mee Ymas in 1961. He has two children and one grandchild. In his free time, Mr. Albano enjoys staying active by weightlifting, playing tennis and practicing karate.
