Dr. Quinones is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist who retired from medicine in 2009 after practicing for four decades. Affiliated with the NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital and the Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn for much of his career, he is a well-respected obstetrician-gynecologist in his field. Caring for women throughout their pregnancies, Dr. Quinones also specialized in annual care, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the female reproductive system.
In addition to practicing medicine, Dr. Quinones also devoted many years to academia as a clinical associate professor at State University of New York Downstate Medical Center. He is a longtime member of the American Medical Association and a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Quinones completed a Doctor of Medicine at the University of Puerto Rico in 1963. He then interned at the U.S. Air Force Hospital at Andrews Air Force Base in Washington, DC, from 1963 to 1964 before serving as a flight surgeon from 1964 to 1967. Responsible for the physical and mental well-being of combat crews, which also included their families, it was a very challenging and eye-opening opportunity that gave him an accurate idea of what it would be like to work in medicine. From there, Dr. Quinones completed his residency in obstetrics-gynecology at the SUNY Downstate Medical Center between 1967 and 1971. He has notably been cited in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, and Who's Who in the World.
Born in New York City, Dr. Quinones married his third wife, Celia, in 1993. He has four children, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. In retirement, Dr. Quinones enjoys watching tennis and going fly-fishing.
