Motivated to pursue physical therapy out of a desire to improve patient care, Ms. Tigue initially earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Michigan in 1967. Now a certified and registered as a physical therapist in the states of Michigan and California, she has worked in that role for numerous hospitals and rehabilitation centers. Ms. Tigue has also served the local health community through private practices and nursing homes, demonstrating considerable professional versatility throughout her career.
Previously, Ms. Tigue was the co-owner of Texas Toyota of Grapevine and Westway Ford of Irving, TX. She currently is the co-owner of the Tigue Management Company, a domestic limited liability company. Ms. Tigue's career is punctuated with considerable accomplishments, having notably helped establish the Colleyville Public Library through her fundraising efforts, her position on the Colleyville City council and helping to establish the Colleyville Public Library Foundation.
Ms. Tigue is particularly notable for her extensive community work. Serving as a place five councilman for the city of Colleyville from 1998 to 2004, she has contributed to her city as mayor pro tempore, a member of the bond steering committee, a member of the master plan revision committee and the chairman of the community center advisory committee. She has also been affiliated with the Art Council of Fort Worth and Tarrant County, the Tarrant County College Foundation Board, the Grapeville-Colleyville Independent School District Education Foundation and the Harris Methodist Health Foundation. Ms. Tigue excelled as the founding chairman of the women's advisory board for Harris Methodist HEB Hospital. She reached out to her community through organizational involvement with numerous boards, fundraising galas and luncheons.
Due to her extensive community involvement and professional background, Ms. Tigue was recognized as a Most Influential Business Woman by The Business Press in 1997, the Volunteer of the Year by the city of Colleyville in 1997, the Colleyville Citizen of the Year in 2001, and the Colleyville Rotary Citizen of the Year in 2002. The recipient of a Women's Legacy Award for her work with women's shelters and the Herman J. Smith Leadership Award from the Colleyville Chamber of Commerce in 1994, she is a member of the Colleyville Area Chamber of Commerce, having served their board of directors multiple times in leadership positions. Due to her notable field-related accomplishments, she is an honorary lifetime member of the Texas Congress of Parents and Teachers. Ms. Tigue has been further honored in such publications as Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America and Who's Who of American Women.
