After earning a Bachelor of Science from the University of Rhode Island in 1958, Mr. Browning went on to earn a Master of Science in acoustics from Michigan State University in 1961. Currently an acoustic consultant with Browning Biotech, where he has worked since 2016, Mr. Browning started out as a physicist at the Naval Underwater Warfare Center, where he served from 1965 to 1994. He also worked as a research scientist for the University of Connecticut, Avery Point, from 1989 to 1991 and an adjunct professor of physics at the University of Rhode Island from 1996 to 2015.
Along with his primary occupational accomplishments, Mr. Browning has worked as an exchange scientist for the Defense Science Establishment in Auckland, New Zealand, an exchange scientist with the Defense Research Establishment in Victoria, Canada, and a visiting scientist with the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA. Displaying unmatched ability in his field, Mr. Browning has contributed many articles to professionally-relevant journals. Known for his research in underwater acoustics and sound absorption, Mr. Browning is a fellow of the Acoustical Society of America. He is also a member of the American Physical Society, the Canada Acoustical Society and the New Zealand Association of Scientists, among other notable organizations.
Familiar with the ocean from a young age, Mr. Browning has always enjoyed sound.
