BLOOMFIELD, CT, December 31, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Don Noel with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Don Noel celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
After accruing almost 40 years of practiced industry experience, Mr. Noel retired from his role as a political columnist for the op-ed page of the Hartford Courant. In the 1950s, he began his career in journalism as a reporter for the Hartford Times, a role in which he served for ten years prior to becoming an assistant managing editor, editorial page editor and then editor-in-chief. Additionally, Mr. Noel found success through his decade's work as senior correspondent with WFSB-TV.
Upon retirement, Mr. Noel channeled his passion into writing the story of how he and his wife built and managed their Jamaican vacation rental home, titled "Near a Far Sea." Mr. Noel earned a Bachelor of Arts in American studies from Cornell University in 1954, and in 2013 earned a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing from Fairfield University. He has since published more then four dozen short stories; he has a novel and two novellas still seeking publishers.
For his excellence in the field, Mr. Noel has been honored for his work with the Sevellon Brown Memorial Award from the New England Associated Press, the National Journalism Award from the American Medical Association and a year's fellowship for overseas study from the Alicia Patterson Foundation. In 1964, he was also recognized as a finalist for a Pulitzer Prize for non-deadline reporting, and a year later was a finalist for a White House Fellowship. Furthermore, Mr. Noel has been selected for inclusion in multiple editions of Who's Who in America and Who's Who in the East.
