In order to remain aware of changes in the field, he was affiliated with the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Society of Clinical Investigation, the Association of American Physicians, and the Association of American Medical Colleges among others. Throughout his lengthy career, Dr. Williams contributed his knowledge to numerous medical journals, including the American Journal of Medicine and the New England Journal of Medicine.
