Dr. Roychoudhuri has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the physics industry

Chandrasekhar Roychoudhuri has been a research professor with the physics department at University of Connecticut (UConn) in Storrs since 2000.

STORRS MANSFIELD, CT, January 03, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Chandrasekhar Roychoudhuri, PhD, with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Dr. Roychoudhuri celebrates many years of experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With more than 50 years of professional experience, Dr. Roychoudhuri has been a research professor with the physics department at University of Connecticut (UConn) in Storrs since 2000. He joined UConn in 1992, starting as the founding director of the school's Photonic Research Center. Prior to obtaining these roles, he was chief scientist of the Optics and Applied Technology Laboratory, United Technologies Optical Systems in West Palm Beach, Florida, from 1990 to 1992, and manager of laser systems with Perkin Elmer Inc., from 1986 to 1989. From 1978 to 1986, he was a staff scientist and then a senior staff scientist with TRW Inc., and from 1974 to 1978, he was a senior scientist with the National Institute of Astrophysics, Optics & Electronics, Puebla, Mexico. Earlier in his career, Dr. Roychoudhuri was an assistant professor with the University of Kalyani in India from 1965 to 1968.

Dr. Roychoudhuri began his career as a student at Jadavpur University in Kolkata, India, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Physics in 1963 and completing a Master of Science in physics in 1965 with distinctions. He came to the United States with a Fulbright Scholarship. After two semesters at the University of Vermont, he transferred to the Institute of Optics, University of Rochester, New York and completed his Doctor of Philosophy in optics in 1973. Dr. Roychoudhuri has been elected a fellow of the Optical Society (OSA) and the Society for Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE) for his contributions to high power diode laser technologies. He has also served both OSA and SPIE as a member of their board of directors. Dr. Roychoudhuri is a life-member of the American Physical Society, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and an elected member of the Connecticut Academy of Science and Engineering.

A respected voice in the field, Dr. Roychoudhuri has written more than 100 articles in professional journals and in conference proceedings and books. He has edited a Special Issue OSA, "The Nature of Light: What is a Photon" and organized and edited a series of biennial conference proceedings during 2005 through 2015 on "The Nature of Light: What are Photons." Dr. Roychoudhuri is renowned for his achievements in researching the applications of diode lasers in fiber optic communications, spectrometry, laser radar and desktop manufacturing, interference, diffraction and dispersion phenomena with ultrashort light pulses, and superposition phenomena. Dr. Roychoudhuri is most recognized for his book, "Causal Physics: Photons by Non-Interaction of Waves," (Taylor & Francis, 2014) where he elaborates the impact of Non-Interaction of Waves (NIW) in Physics, specifically, in optical science and engineering. He uses NIW and his epistemological logics to eliminate the need for the controversial postulate of wave-particle duality. His book explains that Photons are "corpuscular" (as per Newton) at the moment of emission; but evolves diffractively as a classical wave-packet (as per Huygens).

Throughout his career, Dr. Roychoudhuri has been recognized for his contributions both in engineering and in sciences. He has been featured in numerous honors publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who in the South and Southwest.

In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Dr. Roychoudhuri has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
