Providing professional architectural, environmental and construction services for the past near 60 years, Mr. Ginn is a legacy on the west coast of Florida. His expertise and passion for what he does has earned him much credibility, dating back to his earlier years when he first worked as an environmental planning consultant on numerous public and private development projects. He also served as an accessibility codes consultant and as an architect and urban design specialist for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Establishing Ginn Corporation as president in 1967, he then established ARG Construction Corporation and simultaneously began working as an architect and certified building official for the City of Seminole in Florida in 1975.
Over the years, Mr. Ginn has completed numerous architectural projects across the west coast of Florida. His extensive portfolio includes the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary and the Villa Dos Santos Master Plan in St. Petersburg, FL, the Congregation B'nai Israel Synagogue in Clearwater, FL, the Congregation Beth Chai Synagogue in Seminole, FL, and the Penguin Restaurant in Treasure Island, FL, as well as several projects in Albuquerque, NM.
During the first portion of his career, Mr. Ginn was active with the Pinellas County Board of Adjustments and Appeals, the Pinellas County Planning Council and the St. Petersburg Design Goals Committee. He also spent time as a design consultant for the American Revolution Bicentennial Commission, visiting lecturer at Rice University and visiting urban design lecturer at the University of New Mexico, among other roles. In his local community, Mr. Ginn was a member of the permitting task force for the City of St. Petersburg, member of Leadership St. Petersburg, building director for the City of Seminole and mayoral candidate for the City of Treasure Island, Fla. He has been on the mayor's building committee for the City of St. Petersburg since 2001, has been active with the Agency on Bay Management with the City of St. Petersburg since 2007 and has been a Stephen minister and deacon at the First Presbyterian Church in St. Petersburg since 2007.
Mr. Ginn is a longtime member and former vice chairman of the American Institute of Architects. He is also a member of the American Institute of Planners, now known as the American Planning Association, the National American Institute of Architects, the International Codes Council, Inc., and the Florida Planning and Zoning Association, among other professional societies.
Inspired by his father, who was an artist, Mr. Ginn attended the University of Florida, where he completed an Associate of Arts in 1957, Bachelor of Arts in architecture in 1960, and Bachelor of Arts in landscape architecture in 1961. He holds certifications as a building official, general contractor and building inspector in the state of Florida and is a registered architect in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Tennessee.
The recipient of numerous national architectural design, landscape architecture and urban planning awards, Mr. Ginn has also been honored with several Addy Awards, received recognitions from the National American Society of Landscape Architects and the National American Institute of Architects and was named a Spiffs Person of Courage. He has notably been cited approximately 40 editions of Who's Who, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering and Who's Who in the World.
With Sandra Williams for many years, Mr. Ginn has two children and five grandchildren. In his free time, he enjoys taking in the sun by going sailing. He also loves to scuba dive, fly, practice his photography and portrait painting skills.
