Mr. Weyler is a retired pilot, First Officer, and Captain for American Airlines, where he flew for 30 years after six years of Active Duty in the US Air Force. He continued in the Air Force Reserve while at American for another 24 years, retiring from the Air Force Reserve as a Colonel. He retired from American Airlines in 2001. Mr. Weyler first entered politics as an elected official in 1990. He was elected in a special election as a State Representative to the New Hampshire House of Representatives, serving Kingston and some surrounding towns. He was reelected for 15 more terms, serving from 1990 to 2008, and then from 2010 to the present, and recently reelected to the term for 2019-2020. During his tenure with the House of Representatives, Mr. Weyler held leadership positions on the House Finance Committee including it's Chairman. He was also Deputy Speaker for a term, and was on the Rockingham County Delegation, where he Chaired the Executive Committee for several terms.
A current judge advocate for the New Hampshire Veterans Association since 2010, where he formerly served on the board of directors between 1998 and 2010, Mr. Weyler is also a long time member of numerous other organizations. He has been active with the New Hampshire Veterans Association, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Kingston Veterans Club, Vietnam Veterans of America, the Allied Pilots Association, and the American Independent Cockpit Alliance, Inc. among others
Mr. Weyler served in the U.S. Air Force from 1963 to 1969 and the U.S. Air Force Reserve from 1969 to 1993. (He is a former member the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) delete this part in parentheses) Mr. Weyler was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, and the Air Medal with seven Oak leaf Clusters.
Mr. Weyler took flying lessons in high school with his older brother Michael. When Michael joined Air Force ROTC when he entered Tufts University, he recommended it to Ken. Ken then joined Air Force ROTC when he began his college career at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, (MIT)
Married for 55 years to his wife Carol, Mr. Weyler and she share three children and four grandchildren. In addition to maintaining close relationships with his family, he is co-guardian with his brother for their sister. In his spare time he enjoys gardening.
