With more than 40 years of professional experience, Ms. Gorlin has been a partner with Best & Flanagan since 1984 where she practices family law, an associate at Larkin, Hoffman, Daly and Lindgren, Ltd., from 1980 to 1984, and as an associate with Mullin, Weinberg & Daly in 1978. In 1980, Ms. Gorlin served as a temporary referee for the Hennepin County Family Court, having been a law clerk to its judges from 1979 to 1980. In addition to her law firm practice, she was a member of the Minnesota Supreme Court Legal Certification Board and Minnesota Supreme Court appointed Task Force for Gender Fairness from 1986 to 1989; chair of the Hennepin County Bar Association from 1982 to 1984 and the Hennepin County Bar Association representative to the Child Support Task Force in 1982; chair of the Minnesota State Bar Association Family Law Sections from 1985 to 1986; chair of the Minnesota Women Lawyers Appointments Committee from 1983 to 1984; secretary and chair of family law at Hennepin Lawyer Magazine from 1983 to 1985.
Ms. Gorlin began her career as a student at Wesleyan University, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, in 1975. During college, she interned in then Senator Hubert Humphrey and then Congressman Donald Fraser's Washington D.C. offices. She then joined the University of Minnesota Law School, earning a Doctor of Jurisprudence in 1978. While pursuing her education, she served as a law clerk with the Minneapolis City Attorney's Office and Bloomington City Attorney's Offices from 1976 to 1978. Ms. Gorlin has been admitted to practice law in the State of Minnesota as well as before the United States Supreme Court.
A respected leader in her areas of expertise, Ms. Gorlin has been active with a number of organizations in her community, including the Everybody Wins Program (reading with underprivileged youth), the Volunteer Lawyers Benefactors Board, as a volunteer interviewer for Wesleyan University admissions, a volunteer advance person for Walter Mondale and as a delegate at various political conventions. She has been a member of the Board for the Fund for Legal Aid Society, the West Suburban Chamber of Commerce, and the Jewish Family and Children Service Counseling Committee. She has served as director of the Minnesota Women's Network and the Jewish Business and Professional Women's Group, and she has been affiliated with the American Bar Association, the Minnesota Trial Lawyers Association, the Hennepin County Bar Association and the Minnesota Bar Association.
Throughout her career, Ms. Gorlin has been recognized for her contributions.
