KATY, TX, January 10, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Janet Micklos with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Micklos celebrates many years of experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

With 40 years of professional experience, Ms. Micklos retired in 2009, having been Director of Human Services at the Department of Corrections in Brentwood, NH since 1989. In this role, she developed all programs for the adult male population. Additionally, her post involved communicating with and evaluating all staff, volunteers, and interns. From 1995 to 2000, Ms. Micklos simultaneously served New Hampshire as a Rockingham County special sheriff's deputy and as a police officer in the Newfields Police Department. During those five years, she spent her time responding to calls, providing security, interviewing suspects and victims, writing reports, and presenting seminars throughout the community. She has been a team leader with Destination Imagination Competitions since 2015, been on church mission trips to Mozambique, Africa since 2012, and was on prison ministry team to regional youth detention centers beginning in 2009, and a member of the New Hampshire Sex Offender Management Advisory Committee since 2004.

An active presence in her community, Ms. Micklos acted as a trustee of the Newfields Community Church from 1994 to 2000 and a member of numerous organizations including the Task Force on Victim Restitution in Rockingham County, NH, from 1992 to 2000, the Advisory Task Force with the New Hampshire Council of Churches in 1992, and the Government's Council on Volunteerism in Seacost, NH, from 1990 to 1993. In 1990, she began service as chair of the outreach commission with First United Methodist Church in Portsmouth, NH, where she remained for three years.

Prior to obtaining this position, she was a psychiatric counselor with the Portsmouth Pavilion from 1988 to 1989, admissions coordinator with Horizon Hospital in San Antonio, TX, in 1988, and public education director of the Alamo Area Rape Crisis Center from 1986 to 1988. Ms. Micklos began her career as a student at the University of Northern Colorado, obtaining a Bachelor of Arts in education in 1969. After gaining some experience in the field, she returned to her studies at Webster University, earning a Master of Arts in human resources and computer data management in 1985. In 1983, she achieved the U.S. Government Security Clearance: SECRET from the U.S. Department of State.

With extensive experience as a victim advocate and public educator in the field of sexual assault, the transition to working with offenders meant Ms. Micklos could bring a grounded understanding to that population. Notably, she initiated an intensive program to expose inmates to the initial and long-term devastating effects of crime on their victims. The information became personal and the hope was for fact-based reflection before deciding to re-offend. She considers this work to be the highlight of her career.
