With nearly 30 years of professional experience, Dr. Taooka has excelled as the vice director of Aki-ohta Hospital since 2010, and a clinical professor at Shimane University since 2010. An assistant professor at Shimane University from 2008 to 2010, he previously held multiple roles at Hiroshima University, such as an assistant professor at Hiroshima University from 2006 to 2008, an associate professor since 2005, and a research associate for the school's Research Institute for Radiation, Biology, and Medicine from 2002 to 2004. Prior to these appointments, Dr. Taooka worked as the chief of the respiratory division of Mazda Hospital from 2004 to 2005 and as a medical staff member at Hiroshima Red Cross Hospital from 2001 to 2002.
Earlier in his career, Dr. Taooka served on the medical staff at Saijo Central Hospital from 1991 to 1994. Before embarking on his professional path, he pursued an education at the Tokushima University School of Medicine, receiving a Doctor of Medicine in 1989. He then enrolled at Hiroshima University Hospital, completing his residency from 1989 to 1991. After obtaining some experience in the field, Dr. Taooka returned to his studies with the Hiroshima University School of Medicine, where he earned a Doctor of Philosophy in 1998.
Dr. Taooka then traveled to the the University of California, San Francisco, where he accepted a postdoctoral fellowship from 1998 to 2000. A diplomate of the Japanese Board of Respiratory Diseases, he is a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians and a member of the Japanese Respiratory Society. A medical staff expert of the Japan International Cooperative Agency, Dr. Taooka was further active as a medical counselor for collagen diseases for the Hiroshima City Office. He found much success with his written works as well, having authored a number of articles for publications in his field. Moreover, Dr. Taooka has been featured in numerous publications, including multiple editions of Who's Who in Asia and Who's Who in the World.
